FacilityLine is an uncompressed (270Mbit/s) switched service with up to two associated sound channels, data and time code information. The service is available as a Uni-directional or Bothways service available between Customer premises and BT Tower in London. FacilityLine services are used for on-line working and the interchange of programme contribution material in order to transfer uncompressed production quality programme material.

A FacilityLine Ethernet Option is available with FacilityLine Bothways Circuits. The FacilityLine Ethernet Option offers a 100Mbit/s or 1000Mbit/s electrical Ethernet Port which is multiplexed at the optical level to allow simultaneous transmission of an Ethernet feed with a 270Mbit/s SDI feed. The services are de-multiplexed at BT Tower before connecting to switch infrastructure. The SDI feed is connected to the FacilityLine switch, and the de-multiplexed Ethernet feed is connected to Ethernet switch infrastructure. The Ethernet switch infrastructure also provides access to other FacilityLine Circuits with the Ethernet Option.

Where the service rented is critical to the Customer business operation, BT recommends that the Customer requests a second diverse circuit, where available. A diverse circuit may be requested either at the same time as your primary circuit or at a later date. A premium for the diverse circuit will be charged in addition to the normal tariff.
