Note: Star network options are no longer available for new supply. | A `Star' network is defined as three or more sites connected via 2 or more circuits in a star configuration emanating from a central hub site. | Eligibility | | Available nationally within the UK to all customers requiring interconnection of 10 and/or 100Mbit/s Ethernet LANs and/or 4 and/or 16Mbit/s Token Ring LANs. | Initial circuits must be ordered at the same time to gain a discount level, and standard lead times will apply. `Star' Networks can consist of a mix of LES 2, LES 3a, LES 10 and LES 100 circuits. Subsequent orders can be added to the existing `Star' Network at any time and will attract the rate of discount that the customer is on at that time. E.g. If customer has 10 services currently on `Star' Network over 10, the next service ordered could be priced at over 10 discount. | See table below. |
|
| Pricing Information | | All prices where quoted are exclusive of VAT. | Prices for SHDS services, ordered as part of a `Star' network, are based on the sum of the charges for the Hub Site End, Remote End and Main Link. The connection charge and annual rental for each End are not distance-dependent sums (i.e. they are fixed charges). The Main Link charge is calculated on the radial distance between the two local serving exchanges. If the customer's two sites are within the same local exchange area, the Main Link charge will not apply. | One circuit within the `Star' network will be nominated as the Initial Circuit, and charged the Initial Circuit rate at both the Hub Site End and Remote End. All other circuits within the network, regardless of circuit type, will be charged the Subsequent Circuit rate for the Hub Site End and the Subsequent Circuit rate at the Remote End. The Subsequent Circuit rate at the Hub Site End is dependent on the number of Subsequent Circuits ordered as part of the `Star' network. In the table of charges below, the number of Subsequent Circuits refer to the total number of Subsequent Circuits in the 'Star' network, regardless of circuit type. | The following example shows the connection charges applicable to a 'Star' network consisting of 5 LES100 circuits: | 1 Initial Circuit (2 ends) attracting an Initial Circuit Fixed Charge at both the Hub Site End and Remote End (i.e. 2 x £5000), plus 4 Subsequent Circuits (8 ends) attracting 4 Subsequent Circuit Fixed Charges at the Remote Ends (i.e. 4 x £5000), plus 4 Subsequent Circuit Fixed Charges for the Hub Site Ends (i.e. 4 x £3200). The per metre Main Link connection charge and annual rental charges apply as appropriate. |
| Connection and Rental Charges | | | | Future Subsequent Circuits | | For services ordered between existing sites at a future date, the Additional/Subsequent Circuit charge for Standard LES 2, LES 10, LES 100, LES 155B, LES622B and LES1000 services will apply (for details see information contained in this Part) |
| Shift Charges | | Shifts are allowed at any time during the contract period. | Where customers require an End (Hub Site or Remote) to be moved within the same building (an internal shift), Network Timescale rates (see Section 15) apply. | Since this product has been withdrawn from new supply, shifts to new buildings are not permitted. | All shifts will involve a break in service. If a break is unacceptable, a new circuit will be provided between the existing customer sites, with the appropriate connection charges and annual rentals being raised. | Following any shifts, the original Contract terms and conditions will continue to apply. | Please note that external shifts of the LES 2 service are not available. |
| Regrade Charges | | See this Part for the prevailing regrade charges applicable to LES 2, LES 10, LES 100, LES 155, LES 622 and LES 1000 services. |
| Ancillary Charges | | Charges for infrastructure over and above standard requirements are given in Section 45 Part 1 These charges include work on internal trunking & traywork; breaking through walls; additional poles, ducts and cables; radio charges and miscellaneous non-standard or specially requested items. |

| Conditions | | Service is provided under BT's "Conditions for Private Services". | The standard 60 working days provision lead-time applies. All orders taken for the provision of Star Networks are subject to feasibility checks to ensure that service can be provided. Where service cannot be provided, the order will be cancelled without liability. |
| Contract Options | | BT's Conditions for Private Services apply to Short Haul Data Services. The relevant contract options can be found at Section 12 Part 8 of the Price List . |
