Shared Workspace provides direct access to your BT related business
details. Online working enables BT and customer people to view the
same single source of up to date information. Controlling your information
directly allows us to increase accuracy and speed of service to you.
The Shared Workspace Filing Cabinet is an online library with shared
access for all members of a particular workspace. It allows standard
files, such as all MS Office documents and reports to be uploaded,
viewed, modified and downloaded at any time. The Filing Cabinet is
a totally flexible store for managing information provided by you
or BT, such as:
- Meeting minutes
- Project plans, activities and updates
- Site information, including site
plans, contacts and hazard warnings
- Service plans
- Service level agreements
- BT services reports
The Filing Cabinet produces a full audit trail of the activities of
individual members. Access rights and permissions are also configurable.
Automated Status summaries are available for some BT services. These
provide a direct and up to date view of orders and reported problems
from BT's management systems.
Both customers and BT have benefited from online access and sharing
of information. Large network reports, such as those for customers
with Frame Relay services, have typically taken days to prepare and
distribute on paper. Now Frame Relay reports are being distributed
via the Shared Workspace, allowing BT to prepare them in a matter
of minutes and being instantly available to appropriate Shared Workspace
members to view, download and further interrogate.
In a similar way, the provision of site information from customers
can be used to help BT engineers prepare for visits to site. For customers
and BT this will reduce the number of site visits and the time taken
to complete work.
